Hydrocarbon Discovery – Exploratory Well Bolan East-1, Ziarat Block, Balochistan
Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has made a significant hydrocarbon discovery at exploratory well Bolan East-1 in Ziarat Block, near Mach City in Kachhi District of Balochistan Province. MPCL is the Operator of Ziarat Exploration License with 60% working interest, while PPL (Europe) is the joint venture partner with 40% working interest.
The well was spud-in on May 22, 2018 and successfully drilled down to the depth of 1,500 meters, with the objectives to test the hydrocarbon potential of Dunghan, Moro/MoghulKot and Chiltan Formations. The Drill Stem Tests carried out in Chiltan Formation flowed 810 BBL/D of 15.6º API gravity oil with wellhead flowing pressure of 134-167 psi @ 32/64 inch choke size. The Drill Stem Tests carried out in Moro/Mughal Kot Formation also flowed 690 Barrel/Day oil of 15.6º API gravity oil with wellhead flowing pressure of 142-158 psi @ 32/64 inch choke size during pre-acid well test operations. Oil flow rate from Moro/Mughal Kot Formation is expected to increase after acid stimulation job.
It is highlighted that this is the first ever oil discovery in Chiltan and Moro/MughalKot Formations in Balochistan Province.
The aforementioned discovery has strengthened the MPCL exploration success record and the Company is geared up to contribute further towards the national economy. MPCL will continue to boost its potential to find additional hydrocarbons in the Country, so that the ever increasing energy requirements can be met through local resources.
