Mr. Zafar Abbas joined MPCL Board on August 08, 2024, representing Government of Pakistan. He is a career civil servant who joined the Government service in 1998. He has experience of working in economic and energy ministries dealing with policy formulation and implementation, internal cooperation for development, and project management. Prior to assuming his responsibilities at the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) in July 2024, he was serving as Additional Secretary (Power Finance) for two years in Power Division. He has also served as Joint Secretary in Power Division and Interior Division between 2015 to 2022. During his stay at Interior Division, he worked as one of the team leads on FATF, which helped Pakistan get out of grey list in 2022. He also served as MD, NTDC for three years and as Secretary to Government of GB. He holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from UET, Lahore and MBA degree from University of Dundee, Scotland (UK).
