Mari Gas Field

Mari Gas Field

Mari Gas Field, which serves as MPCL's flagship asset, stands as Pakistan's largest gas-producing field. It boasts an extensive production and gathering network comprising over 350 kilometres of pipelines of varied diameters. Gas production operations at the Mari Field began in 1967. It produces gas from Habib Rahi Limestone, Pirkoh Limestone, Sui Upper Lime, Sui Main Lime, Goru B and Ghazij formations and reservoirs. Since its inception, Mari Field has consistently fulfilled customers' gas needs as both feedstock and fuel without any unexpected interruptions, maintaining a 100% production asset availability rate. It is notable for having the lowest production cost per barrel of oil equivalent ($/BOE) among exploration and production companies in Pakistan. Furthermore, Mari Field holds a pivotal role in National Food Security by supplying uninterrupted natural gas to fertilizer plants of the country to meet more than 90% of the country's urea manufacturing requirements, thereby reducing the financial burden on the national treasury associated with urea imports.

Sujawal Gas Field

Sujawal Gas Field

Sujawal Gas Field of Sujawal Block which is located within the Districts of Sujawal, Thatta, and Badin of Sindh Province. In 2010, the 1st well Sujawal X-1, situated in the eastern part of the Sujawal Block, was drilled. Gas from this well is allocated to SSGCL while the condensate is allocated to PARCO and PRL on equal sharing basis. The first gas was established in March 2013 after the installation of Early Production Facilities into SSGCL’s distribution network. Subsequently, the second Exploratory Well, Sujjal-1, was drilled in March 2014, and gas production commenced in January 2015. 8 inch 17 Km pipeline was constructed to bring raw hydrocarbon from well to central processing facilities at Sujawal X-1. In July 2015, processing facilities with a capacity of 25 MMSCFD including a gas-sweetening unit, hydrocarbon dew point control unit and gas dehydration plant were commissioned. The third Exploratory Well, Aqeeq-1, was drilled in April 2017 and began production in November 2017. Currently only Sujjal-1 well is in production with the assistance of a compression facility.

Halini Oil Field and Kalabagh Gas Field

Halini Oil Field and Kalabagh Gas Field

Karak Block lies in Mianwali, a district in Punjab, and the districts of Karak, Bannu, Kohat, and Lakki Marwat in KPK. Within this block, there are two fields namely Halini and Kalabagh Fields, which are situated at distances of 40 kms and 18 kms from Kalabagh City in the Mianwali district, respectively. The exploration journey in this region commenced with the drilling and completion of the initial Exploratory Well, Halini X-1, in the year 2011. Subsequent to obtaining approval for Extended Well Testing (EWT), crude oil production commenced in January 2012, facilitated by the establishment of Early Production Facilities (EPF). In August 2014, an Artificial Gas Lift system was introduced to enhance the sustainability of oil production from Halini X-1. Continuing on this trajectory, the second Exploratory Well, Halini Deep-1, was drilled and successfully completed in April 2016, with production commencing in May of the same year. In September 2015, the third Exploratory Well, Kalabagh-1A, was drilled and completed, facilitating the injection of the first on-specs gas into SNGPL's network in June 2017, following the setup of the necessary production and processing facilities. To maintain production levels, Kalabagh-1A was placed on compression in September 2019.

Dharian Oil Field

Dharian Oil Field

Dharian Oil field is located in Ghauri Block which is situated within the districts of Jhelum and Rawalpindi in the Punjab province. Well was drilled and brought into production in May 2019. Despite facing a significant challenge with a high water cut of approximately 75% and the inherent issue of crude oil sludge, production from the well has been managed through the effective use of treatment chemicals designed to address sludge-related concerns. Currently, the well is delivering an approximate daily production rate of 100 barrels per day (bpd).

Bolan East Oil Field

Bolan East Oil Field

Bolan East Oil Field is situated within the Ziarat Block, which is located in a remote and security-sensitive region near Mach City. It extends across District Kachhi in Balochistan. The drilling and successful completion of the first well, known as Bolan East – 1, took place in 2018. Extended Well Testing (EWT) production commenced in November 2020. The crude oil extracted from this field possesses an API Gravity of 16 and yields a substantial amount of furnace oil, which can be directly utilized without the need for additional processing or refining. This characteristic makes it a suitable alternative for Residual Fuel Oil (RFO) or Furnace Fuel Oil (FFO).

Zarghun South Gas Field

Zarghun South Gas Field

Zarghun South Gas Field, located in the Balochistan region, is characterized by its remote and high-security-risk environment. The exploration journey commenced with the drilling of the first well within the Zarghun South D&PL, situated in the Bolan Block, resulting in a discovery back in 1998. Subsequently, an appraisal well was successfully drilled in 2000. MPCL assumed operatorship of the field and secured a 35% working interest in 2003. The development of facilities faced notable challenges and was halted until 2011. In 2012, a significant milestone was achieved when the Dunghan formation declared as tight reservoir thus qualified for incentive pricing. MPCL undertook workovers on two wells followed by the successful commissioning of Processing Facilities with a capacity of 25 MMSCFD. The first on-spec gas supply commenced in August 2014 and allocated to SSGC (Sui Southern Gas Company) for the dedicated consumption of Quetta City. Moreover, as part of the project's development endeavors, two additional Development Slant Wells were successfully drilled in 2016 and 2020 and put on production utilizing the already installed processing capacity of the field.
